With Hayao Miyazaki having announced his retirement, his films have gained quite a lot of attention as of late, including a special clip dedicated to his work on last Sunday’s episode of “The Simpsons” in North America.
Over here in Australia, anime publisher Madman Entertainment are set to screen his final feature film “The Wind Rises” in select Australian cinemas on February 27, 2014. To celebrate this impending release and Miyazaki’s contributions across the four decades in filmmaking and animation, the publisher have created the above short video titled “The Genius and Wonder of Hayao Miyazaki“.
This video looks at some of the milestones from his career, and provides short sample clips from each of his films – from The Castle of Cagliostro in 1979 to my personal favourite Howl’s Moving Castle in 2004 to The Wind Rising.
