While it may seem that between them, Sentai Filmworks and Funimation Entertainment have picked up all the currently available anime licences in Japan – the acquisition announcements from Otakon 2013 continue with Aniplex of America confirming that they are looking ahead to the next season of anime in Japan.

The company confirmed that they have acquired the rights to the action anime Kill la Kill, the very first television anime project produced by the studio Trigger after coming to acclaim with Little Witch Academia. The series which is set to be released during October 2013 will feature direction by Hiroyuki Imaishi, writing by Kazuki Nakashima and character designs by Sushio.

Hannouji Academy is a school which is ruled by the strong through force. Currently the academy is being run by the student council president Satsuki Kiryuin (Steel Queen). However one day Ryuuko Matoi transfers in wielding a “Basami Sword”. The two begin a fierce rivalry that threatens the leadership and dynamic of the school.

With expectations high after their recently successful short film release, can Trigger manage to make Kill La Kill the hit of next seasons anime slate? We shall soon find out….
