Recently streamed through their Youtube channel DisneyMovieTrailers, it seems that Disney has produced a music video for an new English music track “Summertime” performed by Bridgit Mendler (Voice Actress for Arrietty). While it is uncertain of if they will be replacing any of the original songs from the Studio Ghibli masterpiece with English dubbed tracks, the appearance of this video hints that they might be. While I don’t have any particular dislike for the track itself, it is not suited to the theme of the movie and would be disappointing to see any of the original tracks replaced. Having watched the movie with the UK dub, I get the feeling if anything this might be used to replace either “The Neglected Garden” which was the opening track of the movie or “Arrietty’s Song” which was respectively the Ending Theme – both of which produced by Cécile Corbel. Of course, this might not be the case and they have just included it to promote the film.
The film, a re-imaging of Mary Norton’s 1952 childrens series The Borrowers has already been released in cinemas in UK and Australia and are due to appear in over 1,200 cinemas around the US from the 17th February 2012.
