Be Prepared to Dance All Night Again, New Persona Dancing Spin-off Games Confirmed

-

In between the releases of Persona 4 in 2008 and Persona 5 just this year, ATLUS continued to keep the series alive through a number of spin-off games, ports and more. Unsurprisingly given the standard of music offered by composer Shoji Meguro and vocalists including Shihoko Hirata and Lotus Juice, among others, one of these games was a dancing/rhythm game titled Persona 4: Dancing All Night.

Unlike other spin-off titles which sought to bring together the casts of Persona 3 and Persona 4, Dancing All Night focused exclusively on the cast of Persona 4, and the songs featured in that respective game. With the recent release of Persona 5, this left open the door for similar projects for either Persona 3 or Persona 5. It has been decided that ATLUS have opted to go for both.

It has been confirmed that work is underway on two separate games, Persona 3: Dancing Moon Night and Persona 5: Dancing Star Night. Both are currently in development for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, for release in Japan at an unspecified date during 2018. Although ATLUS USA have not issued an announcement regarding their plans for the game yet, I think it is a safe assumption to make that an English localisation will be available at some point in time.

Details on both games are limited, although teaser trailers for both titles have been offered. The one for Persona 3: Dancing Moon Night (above) focuses on the protagonist, Junpei, Yukari and Aigis dance to another remixed version of Burn My Dread. On the other hand, the video for Persona 5: Dancing Star Night (below) see’s Joker, Ryuji, Ann and Makoto perform in some familiar locales.

Wondering if anything else is around the corner for the Persona series? While information on the game is even more limited, ATLUS have also confirmed that work is underway on Persona Q2 on at least the Nintendo 3DS. It does seem to be based on Persona 5 from the preview, although there is no confirmation if characters from Persona 3, 4, or other numbered installment will make an appearance.
