Offering a compilation of classic 80s arcade games on the Nintendo Switch, Bandi Namco Entertainment have confirmed they will be offering Namco Museum on Nintendo’s newest home video game console this year.
Namco Museum seeks to transport players “back to the days when coin-operated arcades reigned supreme” for a “truly nostalgic experience“. This compilation will feature a catalog of games including Pac-Man, Dig Dug, Galga, Galga 88, The Tower of Druaga, Rolling Thunder, Rolling Thunder 2, SkyKid, Splatterhouse, and Tank Force. While these are classic games, they will have an online ranking system associated with them, allowing players to work towards a higher score among the wider community. There is also a challenge mode, “presenting players new and unique challenges for each game”.
While you can play Namco Classics on your television, you can also try to recreate a more traditional arcade experience by turning the handheld unit vertically – providing a taller, slimmer, albeit much smaller screen, and a user interface which they claim “replicates the original arcade experience”.
