Cloud Imperium Games Chart Roadmap to Star Citizen Alpha 3.0

Unveiling their first Alpha 3.0 footage for Star Citizen’s persistent universe mode (see above) during Gamescom 2016, developer Cloud Imperium Games left a promising impression for what Alpha 3.0 had to offer. While there was some hope that they would release this update prior to the close of last year, the development team was unable to hit this target, and up until a few days ago the development team didn’t put a new target date for the game.

With a release potentially only a couple of months away, Cloud Imperium Games have released a new Production Schedule Report covering the road map from now until the launch of Star Citizen Alpha 3.0. Similar to the one they offered for Alpha 2.6, this sizable document details what has already been completed for the 3.0 branch, what they are currently working on, and when their pending items will be completed. According to their schedule, they are hoping to have the update to Evocati members from June 5th – 15th, and begin accepting new waves of PTU users from June 16th – 26th. Subsequently, everything should be done an dusted by June 29th 2017.

They have also shared their objectives for the rest of 2017, from individual game feature updates to ship launches. Of course, as there have been delays in the past, it wouldn’t surprise me if some of these features are held up further, although here’s hoping!

You can read the full Production Schedule Report via the official Roberts Space Industries (Star Citizen) website.

Star Citizen is currently in an extended crowdfunding phase, with Cloud Imperium Games having raised $146.6 million USD as of writing. They obtain these funds through players pledging towards ship packages, additional ships (most if not all of which will be acquirable in-game). All you need to access the game is a single ship package – which will give you access to either or both the Star Citizen persistent universe mode and Squadron 42 campaign mode. As part of their Spring Sale, CIG are offering both Star Citizen and Squadron 42 with either an Aurora MR or Mustang Alpha beginner ship for $55.00 USD.

Please note that Star Citizen is currently in crowdfunding and is still under development. As with any crowdfunding campaign, please take the risk of delays and/or cancellation into consideration before pledging.
