Valkyria Revolution Confirmed for North American, PAL Release in June

It has been years since a new instalment in the Valkyria series was released, even longer if you don’t count the Japan-exclusive Valkyria Chronicles III on the PlayStation Portable. Serving as a completely standalone title in the series and developed by Media.Works, SEGA have confirmed their plans to release Valkyria Revolution on the PlayStation 4 (Physical / Digital), Xbox One (Physical / Digital) and PlayStation Vita (Digital) in late-June 2017.

Valkyria Revolution will feature a brand new battle system from earlier titles, which seeks to “mix real-time combat and tactical strategy”. According to Sega, “players can take control of the battlefield using brazen combos or cunning tactics” and that “finding a balance between them is the key to excelling in skirmishes”. Complementing this will be an upgrade system for weapons, with each upgradable through branching paths.

Want to know more about the story of Valkyria Revolution? SEGA have shared the below official synopsis:

In the wake of a revolution, Jutland’s elite soldiers, the Vanargand, must band together to defeat the Ruzi Empire and stop death itself–the Valkyria. This grizzled anti-Valkyria squad is equipped with advanced mana weaponry and has the powerful ability to wield ragnite spells to combat this terrifying threat. The unit is comprised of soldiers who have a high affinity for ragnite, and even Jutland’s own Princess Ophelia has joined the ranks. The princess carries the utmost love for her country and has answered the call of duty to liberate those who are suffering from the Ruzi’s tyranny. However, Amleth Grønkjær, the commanding officer of Vanargand hides a terrible secret. Is he friend or foe to the country he has sworn to protect?

Valkyria Revolution will be available in North America by SEGA on June 27 2017. Those in PAL regions will have the game published by Deep Silver, who currently have a June 30 2017 release date planned.
