Splatoon 2 – Nintendo Switch Owners Can Get Temporarily Inked Next Month

Delivering a third-person shooter experience which was colourful, fun, and a lot more approachable to gamers of all ages, Splatoon has in my opinion proven to be one of the best new IP’s created with the Nintendo Wii U in mind. Therefore, it has been a little bit surprising that Nintendo have opted to not make their upcoming launch of Splatoon 2 a launch title for the Nintendo Switch – instead putting it down for a Winter 2017 launch.

However, those hoping they could pick up Splatoon 2 next month do have a small opportunity to play the game. Nintendo have confirmed they will be holding a series of demo opportunities, open to everyone with a Nintendo Switch console. With a demo client of the game to be available for download, players will be able to take part in up to six play sessions, which are spaced across 3 days (or two days in Australia).

This demo will offer Nintendo Switch owners the chance to try out content featured at various hands-on events around the world with other players worldwide. You will be able to try out four different main weapons – including the new Splat Dualies, and remixed versions of the Splat Roller and Splat Charger.

These events will take place at the following times, some of which may be a little bit harsh for those who aren’t early risers or night owls in Australia:

Saturday, March 25th

6:00am – 6:59am AEDT

2:00pm – 2:59pm AEDT

10:00pm – 10:59pm AEDT

Sunday, March 26th

6:00am – 6:59am AEDT

2:00pm – 2:59pm AEDT

10:00pm – 10:59pm AEDT

Hisashi Nogami | Splatoon Series Producer

Two years have passed since the original Splatoon and since then, the weapons, maps and characters in that world have evolved. Through the Splatoon 2 Global Testfire event this March, players will be able to get a taste of that. There will be more new features to Splatoon 2, so please look forward to more reveals in the future.

During the recent Tokaigi Game Party Japan 2017 which took place in Tokyo last weekend, Nogami also confirmed that Splatoon 2 will feature a new ‘Private Battle Spectator View’ mode. Although this won’t allow dozens of players to observe a particular match, it will allow up to two people to partake in a private battle as a camera operator. This seems to be ideal for those who have recording devices, for the purposes of broadcasting and/or commentating on the match. This system will also work with the LAN Play feature, which connects up to 10 docked consoles (in this case, up to eight players and two observers) via wired LAN.
