Upupupu! Get Ready to Revisit Despair Again This June with Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls (PS4)

With regard to the main Danganronpa murder-mystery/visual novel franchise, the PlayStation 4 is set to come off quite well in 2017. Not only can we expect to see Danganronpa 1•2 Reload (Containing Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair) for the home video game platform, but also a brand new instalment (Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony) on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.

But there is more despair to be offered on the PlayStation 4 than just with these three games. Western publisher Nippon Ichi Software America announced last year that they would also be bringing the action-oriented spin-off game Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls to the PlayStation 4 in 2017… and we finally know when.

Looking at a mid-year release, Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls is slated to launch first in PAL regions from June 23 2017, followed by a North American release a few days later on June 27 2017. Although this is a port, it will be available both physically and digitally.

There is currently no additional content announced for this version, with NIS America stating that it “will include all content found in the  PlayStation®Vita release”. Check out my review of the original English release HERE.

About Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls

Komaru Naegi, little sister to Makoto Naegi, has been imprisoned inside a mysterious apartment for over a year. One day, she is rescued by Byakuya Togami of Future Foundation, but the rescue is derailed by a sudden attack of hundreds of Monokumas. Komaru soon discovers that the city has been taken over by a group of children calling themselves the Warriors of Hope. Their leader, Monaca, declares that the city will be the site of a “children’s paradise,” and to accomplish this, all the adults will be exterminated. Komaru teams up with Toko Fukawa to try to survive the rampaging Monokumas, escape the crafty Monokuma Kids, and uncover the secrets of the city
