Visit the Phantom Isle Early, Demo Released for Phantom Brave PC

Back in the days when it was almost impossible to find Disgaea: Hour of Darkness on the PlayStation 2, Phantom Brave served as my introduction to the world of Nippon Ichi Software developed tactical RPGs. Containing several gameplay mechanics which have not been used by NIS America again to date (Such as needing to bind party members to items spread across the battle map), Phantom Brave won me over through its unique concepts, challenge and heart-warming narrative. It is in my opinion one of the lesser-known gems in NIS America’s catalogue… second only to Makai Kingdom which has never received a re-release.

Following their own on Disgaea PC earlier this year, Nippon Ichi Software America are set to bring the enhanced PSP/Wii port of Phantom Brave, known as Phantom Brave: We Meet Again, over to the PC. With mere days until launch, the publisher have decided to provide players with the chance to visit Phantom Isle a little bit early in the form of a demo.

Now available for download through Steam, this demo version allows players to access the first three maps of Chapter 1. This won’t be a full-featured Chapter 1 as ‘Another Marona’, ‘Dungeon Monk’ and ‘Random Dungeons’ cannot be accessed. But aside from that, all unlockable content in Chapter 1 will be accessible. Saved data from the demo will also be transferable to the full game, meaning you can have a head start now before diving into the full game when it launches on July 25th 2016.

You can pre-order the Digital Chroma Edition of Phantom Brave PC via for $19.98 USD, which is 20% off the regular retail price of $24.98. This set includes both the full game and a digital art book.

About Phantom Brave

On a small, lonely island in Ivoire lives Ash, a Phantom who lost his life in battle, and Marona, who has the ability to communicate with Phantoms. Sometimes, Marona receives Bottlemails that float along the sea.

Marona, who lost her parents when she was very young, makes her living by completing the requests inside the Bottlemails as a Chroma, a person who accepts freelance work to solve problems for people. However, because of her abilities, the people call her the “Possessed.” Even if she completes her work, some clients will hesitate to pay her the reward because of her reputation.

Still, Marona stays optimistic and follows what her parents told her long ago: “Help people, and someday everyone will start to like you.” Her goal is to save enough money to buy Phantom Isle, which she’s currently renting. Like a subtle wave in the sea, the adventures of Marona and Ash are about to begin.
