To be followed by a PAL region release in the coming days and weeks, ATLUS USA have released the HD remake of Vanillaware’s PS2 classic Odin Sphere Leifthrasir in North American markets. Available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita – players will be drawn into storybooks which detail the tale of a dutiful Valkyrie, wrathful Shadow Knight, naive elf princess, a determined forest witch and an adorable little rabbit prince; as they work to prevent the end of days.
While there is a ‘Classic Mode’ for those who want an experience authentic to the original release, this is not designed to be an old game with HD visuals slapped on it. This is instead a total overhaul, featuring hand-redrawn graphics, and many refined gameplay mechanics. New additions include a new skills tree system, revamped potion brewing and battle system enhancements.
Odin Sphere Leifthrasir is available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita as part of a standard edition set. For a limited time and participating retailers, this standard edition will come with a 64-page softcover artbook. Those looking to nab themselves something special can also choose to purchase the PlayStation 4 exclusive “Storybook Edition” Premium Version ($79.99/CA$99.99). This includes a hardcover version of the artbook, a special Potion Recipe t-shirt, a metal slipcase for the game, an art print, and premium outer packaging.
