Mini Mario & Friends amiibo Challenge Wii U (2)

Continuing to build the presence of their amiibo figures, Nintendo have released a new puzzle game known as Mini Mario & Friends: amiibo Challenge on the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. This free-to-download game can now be purchased on the Nintendo eShop of each platform

Mini Mario & Friends: amiibo Challenge is the latest title in Nintendo’s puzzle series, which began as Mario vs. Donkey Kong in 2004. While past instalments have been paid, this one is free. But the catch is that it requires the purchase of amiibo figures to play through.

Players use the touch screen of either platform to guide a Mini Toy to the goal door in each stage by moving girders and changing the toy’s direction to make sure it avoids enemies, spikes, Thwomps, and any other perils which could put a stop to the march of the Minis.

Any of the 90 or so amiibo figures released to date are supported by this game, however amiibo figures of select Mario series characters will each open up a Mini Tokyo of that character for players to control. Players must make use of each character’s special abilities to reach a specific amiibo door and gain access to specific levels. In terms of special abilities, it will be possible to eat enemies as Yoshi, travel across treacherous terrainwith Bowser Jr’s Spike Guard and “lift off” using Rosalina’s Lunar Launcher.

As well as Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, and Donkey Kong, extra challenges can be accessed by scanning in amiibo of Rosalina, Diddy Kong, Bowser, Bowser Jr. and Yoshi, all of whom are making their debut in the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series.

Mini Mario & Friends: amiibo Challenge is now available as a free download on the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.
