ATLUS USA and SNK Playmore Partner Up to Bring The King of Fighters XIV to North America

While details aren’t known about who will be handling The King of Fighters XIV in PAL regions, news has emerged about who will be bringing the latest instalment in this long-running fighting series to North American markets. A partnership has been confirmed between ATLUS USA and SNK Playmore which will see The King of Fighters XIV launched on the PlayStation 4 as of later this year. While it is set to feature many of the characters and gameplay features fans are familiar with, it will also come with new 3D visuals – a first for the franchise.

The King of Fighters XIV will come with the traditional 3 vs 3 battle system, and a cast of 50 characters (31 returning plus 19 new) whom will all be available in-game at launch. There will also be some refinement to the game’s fighting engine in order to have it be more streamlined and approachable to newcomers. Hopefully however, they will not be impacting series veterans in the process. There are also notable improvements made to the “Combo” and “MAX Mode” game mechanics, and the “RUSH” feature, which adds simplified combo inputs for novices.

The King of Fighters XIV will also come with a couple of brand new modes. This includes “Party Battle”, which pits two teams of three human players each against each other in a cooperative team fight in online play. There’s also a new online training mode that will connect beginners and experienced players for tutoring on how to play together.

No release date for The King of Fighters XIV has currently been locked in outside of a 2016 launch window.
