One of the new features to be introduced in the upcoming video game development software RPG Maker MV is Plugins. Plugins are set to serve as a replacement for the scripts system, which from RPG Maker XP to RPG Maker VX Ace, have allowed individuals, groups and the community at large to enhance the out-of-the-box RPG experience with modifications or completely new additions. As highlighted in the first video above, plugins are “technically the same concept as scripts but the way it works now is extremely different”.
The team at Degica have collaborated with the Yanfly Engine team to create a series of videos that highlight the plugin system and how to work with it. This includes them showcasing the ‘Yanfly Engine Plugins’ library, which gives you some additional control over your created game that would not necessarily be possible through the “Database” menus. The entire video series can be found at the top of this post.
Pre-orders for RPG Maker MV are currently underway via the official RPG Maker website and Steam. The development software is set to be released on October 23rd 2015 at a price of $79.99 (Excluding pre-order discounts).
