[E3 2015] The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes – Announcement, Screenshots, Trailer

One of the announcements made by Nintendo during their recent Digital Event livestream was that work is currently underway for The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes, a brand new Legend of Zelda game on the Nintendo 3DS. Reminiscent of Gameboy Advance / Gamecube game The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures (Albeit less hectic than having to link four GBA consoles up with link cables), this game sees three players take on the role of individual Link characters.

The task of this trio is to team up, solve puzzles and battle enemies and bosses which reside within dungeons. Players are tasked  with working together rather than competing for rupees, as the group shares all hearts. Somewhat comparable to the Dresspheres system in Final Fantasy X-2, each Link is able to don outfits which give them special abilities, and can be acquired as you journey through each dungeon. There is also a new Totem mechanic which allows all three Link’s to stack on top of one another to research higher ground and solve puzzles.

Developed by Nintendo and available for the Nintendo 3DS family of gaming systems, The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes is expected for release later this year.
