Bandai Namco Announce Tales of Berseria for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4

While those of us outside of Japan are still waiting for the English localised release of Tales of Zestiria to hit our store shelves later this year, Bandai Namco have confirmed the next instalment in their long-running Tales franchise. Announced during the Tales of Festival in Yokohama, it was confirmed that the new game will be titled Tales of Berseria.

Although no release date has been confirmed as of this point, we do know that Tales of Berseria will be available on both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 gaming systems. It seems that even with many franchises starting to dabble in recent-generation exclusivity, Bandai Namco cannot escape the RPG appeal found with last generation consoles.

Tales of Berseria will feature a sole protagonist rather than a party. This game will feature female heroine Velvet (Voiced by Rina Sato), whose backstory and personality remains a mystery at this point in time. Given Tales’ games heavy reliance on parties of multiple characters, it will be interesting to see how familiar systems are adapted to feature one lead character – or if they might try their hands at something along the lines of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.
