Following the Xbox 360 launch of Star Ocean (4): The Last Hope in 2009, fans were left wondering if the Star Ocean franchise would ever receive another instalment. With tri-Ace moving on to other projects and nothing being said about it for more than half a decade, it was beginning to seem unlikely.
But the wait was worth it, with tri-Ace and Square Enix recently confirming their plans to develop and subsequently publish Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness. Ditching the Xbox platform, the new JRPG will be released on both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 consoles at a date yet to be announced. It has also been confirmed that many Star Ocean veterans will be returning to work on the new game. These include: Hiroshi Ogawa as Game Director, Shuichi Kobayashi as Producer and Motoi Sakuraba as composer among others.
Two high quality screenshots sourced from the PlayStation 4 edition of Star Ocean 5 have currently been released, alongside a series overview trailer. These can both be viewed below. Expect to hear more on Star Ocean 5 soon!
Reviews of both Star Ocean 3: Till the End of Time and (a very old) review of Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope can be found on The Otaku’s Study.
