Gurumin: A Monstrous Adventure Now Available on PC

-

Following the Steam Greenlight efforts of publisher Mastiff last year, Nihon Falcom’s action adventure game Gurumin: A Monstrous Adventure is now available for purchase via select digital outlets including Steam and GOG.com. Those who took part in Mastif’s support campaign to get the game on Steam are now able to claim their free download codes – with information on how to claim them available HERE. Those who did not support the game originally can purchase is now for $9.99 USD.

Receiving its original Japanese release on the PC back in 2004, Gurumin: A Monstrous Adventure only received a PlayStation Portable release internationally during 2007. It is a 3D platform game which involves the main character, a young girl named Parin, going through a number of dungeons/labyrinths with little more than a drill, to collect items stolen from her monster friends and defeat the phantoms which threaten the world. Gurumin boasts 30 stages, five difficulty levels, a variety of distinct NPC’s / enemies and an all-star cast including Amber Hood, Tara Strong, Robin Atkin Downes and Quinton Flynn to name just a few.

Having had a bit of time to check the PC version out, I strongly recommend hooking up a controller to play Gurumin: A Monstrous Adventure. The keyboard can be a bit tricky at times in my opinion. Expect to find a review of Gurumin on The Otaku’s Study in the coming weeks.

Synopsis

Gurumin stars Parin, a strong-willed girl sent to live with her grandfather in a small mining town. Parin soon discovers an invisible monster village hidden behind her home. She is quickly drawn into a fight between the village’s friendly monster residents and the Phantoms, evil monsters that want to destroy them. Learning of a weapon hidden underneath the village that she alone is fit to wield, Parin embarks on a quest to stop the Phantoms and make the world right.
