Star Citizen 1.1 Goes Live, Requires Complete Game Reinstall

Following their milestone launch of Star Citizen 1.0 near the end of 2014, Cloud Imperium Games have confirmed that Version 1.1 of Star Citizen has now gone live. While this does bring quite a few improvements to the (still in Alpha) video game, it does require that everyone uninstall their copy of the game and do a complete reinstall, redownloading the large patch files another time. This might not be such good news to the bandwidth conscious fans out there.

This update sees the Aegis Retaliator become Hangar-ready and the Gladius flyable in Arena Commander. Other additions include the ‘under the hood’ 64-bit conversion system, a dynamic damage system (Launched with the Gladius), a landing / take-off system, the introduction of rental credits (REC) and more. To facilitate the rental credits system being introduced, all backers have been given 5,000 REC.

For more detailed explanations for each newly introduced system, check out both official update announcement and patch notes. This update also comes with a new Arena Commander manual.
