Following many years of waiting and a fairly disappointing prologue game (Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeros), Konami have announced that they will be releasing Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain worldwide beginning September 1st 2015. This game has an ambition of delivering the largest and most ambitious instalment in the MGS franchise to date; with a huge open world featuring realistic weather pattens, vivid life and day/night cycles in addition to a plethora of gameplay improvements. This is on top of of them introducing an all-new version of Metal Gear Online, a game which was originally bundled with Metal Gear Solid IV however discontinued a couple of years ago.
Featuring the work of Hideo Kojima and his Kojima Productions studio, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain features a wealth of new and returning characters alike into a storyline which should last more than the few hours that Ground Zeroes did. The game follows franchise protagonist Big Boss as he enters a series of battlefields following the deaths of his colleagues. Central to the game is a hideously disfigured adversary known as Skull Face, while the ongoing conflict also introduces the new characters, such as the mysterious Quiet – a mute female warrior with incredible abilities.
There will be three editions available for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, ranging in retail price from $109.95 to $249.95. The most expensive will be the Collector’s Edition (Pictured Above), which will come with a wealth of physical and digital goodies including a half scale replica of Snake’s bionic arm, a map and exclusive packaging. Also available will be the Day One edition which comes with a range of additional in-game content. Finally there is the standard edition, priced the same as the Day One edition but without all the goodies.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be available on September 1st for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms. A digital-exclusive release for the PC via Steam will follow on September 15th 2015.
