PlayStation 4 Release Date for Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster Confirmed

While this date may change slightly for European, Australian and New Zealand markets; Square Enix have today confirmed that they will be releasing Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster on the PlayStation 4 starting May 12th 2015. This follows their original enhanced PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita port of the PS2 classic in 2014, and still comes with the trio of games: Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy X-2 and Final Fantasy X-2: Last Mission.

The North American release will come with an exclusive calendar featuring artwork by Yoshitaka Amano as a pre-order bonus, available through select retail outlets and the Square Enix Online Store.

Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster on the PlayStation 4 is more or less the same collection that was released last year. Aside from cross-save and remote play features, the only new feature is that it will now be possible to change soundtracks in Final Fantasy X. This means that you can either enjoy Final Fantasy X with the newly remastered soundtrack or the original classic tracks. It was a feature I was disappointed not to see with the original release, so it is good to see that Square Enix have met my personal demands at the very least.
