One of my personal favourite expansion packs for The Sims 2 was ‘Open for Business’, which allowed your Sims to open retail stores or other businesses in order to sell items which they had crafted or otherwise acquired. Due to The Sims 3 making greater use of Rabbit Holes, a similar expansion pack was never offered for the game. However, with The Sims 4 making use of a similar “lot based” system to The Sims 2, Maxis and Electronic Arts have fast-tracked a similar system into their upcoming The Sims 4 Get to Work.
The latest trailer for the game, featured above, showcases the variety of different retail businesses which your Sims will be able to run in the brand new Magnolia Promenade neighbourhood included with the game. Some businesses available to run include a retail outlet, boutique, bakery and a photography studio. It will also be possible to hire employees to run the store. Unfortunately it seems like the new neighbourhood could have only four lots, meaning it does little to mitigate the lack of lots of build a flourishing town.
The Sims 4 Get to Work is set for release on the PC and Mac platforms from April 2015.
