ATLUS USA Confirm English Localized Release Plans for Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight

-

While they haven’t yet released Etrian Mystery Dungeon to the international market, ATLUS USA haven’t waited to begin the localization process of their next Etrian Odyssey game. The company have today confirmed that work is ongoing for Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight, an enhanced Nintendo 3DS port of Etrian Odyssey II: Heroes of Lagaard and successor to Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl.

Like its predecessor, Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold will follow a 2-games-in-1 approach. You can choose to play the game through either a new story mode with fixed party members, voiced dialogue, animated cutscenes and more; or via Classic Mode which will be similar to the original game albeit with multiple UI, dungeon design and gameplay improvements.

The new story mode follows the tale of the Fafnir Knight, Princess Arianna, Flavio - another hero of the Midgard Library – and the two adventurers, Bertrand and Chloe. The five meet while exploring the Ginnungagap ruins, and then after misfortune unfolds, they venture back and forth between the Yggdrasil Labyrinth and Ginnungagap, slowly working their way to discovering the origins of the Fafnir Knight.

Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight will be released later this year on the Nintendo 3DS. A North American release date has been estimated for “Summer 2015”, however no PAL region publisher has come forward with any release plans.
