North American and PAL region video game publisher Nippon Ichi Software America have announced that they will be publishing Experience Inc.’s dungeon crawler RPG, Operation Abyss: New Tokyo Legacy, on April 14th 2015 in North America. Distribution in PAL regions will begin a couple of dates later on April 17th 2015.
Coming from the same development team that brought us Demon Gaze last year, the PlayStation Vita exclusive Operation Abyss will be available through both digital and retail channels.
To coincide with this announcement, NIS America have also shared a brand new trailer for the game. In almost three minutes, the video features a storyline overview, grants a significant peek at the CG artwork and surprisingly small glimpses of the dungeon crawling, battle and character creation systems. I would have personally liked a greater look at the gameplay, since this is the particular element that can make or break a dungeon crawling RPG, however first impressions indicate this is a pretty flashy game at the very least.
Operation Abyss: New Tokyo Legacy is a sci-fi dungeon crawler RPG set in a near future Tokyo. With the city under the constant threat of Variants—genetically engineered monsters—and the emergence of portals leading to a mysterious dimension called the Abyss, the government has established the Code Physics Agency to investigate these mysterious phenomena. The Xth Squad—a unique group of teens modified by the CPA’s Code technology—must evade traps, face down powerful monsters, and investigate the mystery behind the Abyss.
