New Atelier Rorona (3DS) – Screenshots Highlight Changes Made During the Chibification Process

After revisiting Atelier Rorona just the other year to deliver fans on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita an enhanced remake of the original PS3 JRPG, Gust have once again returned to the land of Arland to produce a new Nintendo 3DS exclusive remake. While there are several similarities between the two editions, this Nintendo 3DS remake of Atelier Rorona has seem the development team do more than chibify each of the characters.

Battles now take place on a grid-based battlefield, which is set to help players (Especially on a smaller screen) identify the range that their characters attacks will hit. The grid system will also make it possible for characters and foes to perform back-attacks against one another, causing extra damage. This is in comparison to earlier Atelier Rorona games where both parties stood facing one another and took turns walking up to one another and dealing damage. Features such as character skills, special skills, the assist meter and alchemist-exclusive use of items will all be returning.

New screenshots have also confirmed that while character models for each character and enemy have been chibified, character portraits used in visual novel segments will be retained from previous games.
