PlayStation Home to be Discontinued in Japan and Asia from March 2015

-

PlayStation_Home_LogoWhen first announced for the PlayStation 3 in 2007, the PlayStation Home service came across as being an ambitious project. While it never managed to deliver on some of the features gamers were hoping for (Eg. The trophy hall), and I wouldn’t say it lived up to the hype, the PlayStation Home service has always served as a decent virtual world with many tie-in games, rooms and items.

While this recent announcement has nothing to do with North American or PAL region markets which will be run indefinitely, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan and Asia have signalled what could be the beginning of the end for PlayStation Home.

An announcement has confirmed that the PlayStation Home virtual world will shut its doors in Japan and Asia from March 2015. Users can still buy items/estates until September 24th, 2014 when content will no longer be available for purchase.
