New Pokémon Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire Trailer Features New Mega Pokémon and a Cosplaying Pikachu

-

One of the features that seems to be defining this generation of Pokémon games are Mega-Evolved Pokémon, the select few which are selected by the developers to be temporarily able to evolvable into new powerful forms during battle. While I personally dislike this feature and would rather them focus on the inclusion of other features, Mega Evolution has once again been the focus of the latest trailer for Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, enhanced remakes of GBA games Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire.

This new trailer takes a look at new mega-evolved Pokémon including Mega Salamence, Mega Lopunny, and Mega Altaria. The video also provides a look at five of the different cosplay Pikachu in battle. I will give them this… those Pikachu are damn cute.

Once players arrive at the Hoenn region’s Pokémon Contest Spectacular, they can enter their Pokémon in five different contest categories—Coolness, Beauty, Cuteness, Cleverness, and Toughness—in which the Pokémon is judged on one of these five conditions. This system has pretty much been retained from the original GBA release of Ruby and Sapphire. After entering the Pokémon Contest Spectacular for the first time, Trainers will receive their very own Cosplay Pikachu, which is unique in that it knows moves that a normal Pikachu cannot learn and can use them in battle. For instance, Pikachu Rock Star knows the Steel-type move Meteor Mash, and Pikachu Pop Star can use Draining Kiss in battle, a Fairy-type move that is effective against Dragon-type Pokémon. Pikachu, Ph.D., can learn the Electric-type move Electric Terrain, while Pikachu Belle learns the beautiful Ice-type move Icicle Crash. Finally, Pikachu Libre can battle with Flying Press, a powerful Fighting-type move.

It has also been announced that beginning November 21st, players who purchase Pokémon Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire will have the opportunity to receive a Shiny Beldum holding a Mega Stone via in-game internet character distribution. When evolved into Shiny Metagross, players can use the Mega Stone to Mega Evolve into Shiny Mega Metagross.

One down, 718 shiny Pokémon to go!
