Originally developed by 2K Boston and 2K Australia, and first released back in 2007, Bioshock proved itself to be one of the “staple games” from the early seventh generation of video game consoles. Surprisingly after all these years, 2K Games have decided to re-release Bioshock on iOS platforms. Was it worthwhile to commit additional development time for an old yet still readily available game? or will it suddenly boom in sales to justify a port of Bioshock 2? Time will tell…

Bioshock iOS has been optimized to feature touch controls, in addition to Bluetooth and Made for iPhone game controller support. The game also features a new leaderboard system, an in-app digital artbook (based on the original Special Edition), and a new player profile function that allows players to see how they stack up against their friends with a number of personal in-game stats that track how many weapons and plasmids are used, the number of enemies killed, and more.

BioShock iOS is available as a premium App on the iTunes App Store for $18.99. Players are once again invited to the submerged Art Deco city of Rapture to fight deranged survivors of a failed objectivist utopia, and genetically modify their own DNA to gain superhuman powers.

DO NOTE

Only the following iOS devices are supported: iPad Air, iPad Mini 2, iPad 4, iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C and iPhone 5. No other devices will be able to run the game… which means I will also be unable to review this app at the present time.
