After years of having fans already create levels based on classic Mario games using unofficial tools, Nintendo have finally decided to let fans officially produce their own 2D Mario levels through an easy drag-and-drop user interface on the Wii U gamepad. The game also supports the HD visuals of New Super Mario Bros. U for those who prefer new over the nostalgic retro designs.
While the trailer indicates that the tools are quite deep in development, Mario Maker is set for release around the world exclusively for the Wii U sometime during the first half of 2015.
