After what ATLUS USA have called an ‘unplanned hiatus’ (of almost a freaking year!), the company have finally gotten around to announcing that it is them that will be directly publishing Shin Megami Tensei IV in PAL regions.
After more than a decade wait since the third official instalment in the primary Megami Tensei series (Shin Megami Tensei: Lucifer’s Call), SMT IV will be available in PAL regions as a digital download release on the Nintendo eShop, exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS. Don’t use the Nintendo eShop? Enjoy buying a US console thanks to Nintendo’s now outdated approach of region locking their consoles.
Details on the European release date, including pricing will be revealed in the next couple of months. Currently they are looking at a Q3 2014 launch window.
The story of SMTIV revolves around the Samurai, the sacred protectors of the Eastern Kingdom of Mikado. As a newly appointed Samurai, players will struggle with factions that have nefarious designs on the world as they defend Mikado from a growing army of demons flowing from the mysterious dungeon, Naraku. Decisions players make throughout the course of the story will have lasting repercussions, as the fate of the world hangs in the balance.
