Sony Computer Entertainment Announce Inclusion of SHAREfactory in PS4 v1.70 Update

-

While the Xbox One offered tools which allowed gamers to simply edit their recorded content before sharing it with the web, the PlayStation 4 offered very little in this regard. To me it felt like Sony Computer Entertainment was actively encouraging the community to livestream videos rather than save and upload them later, something that unless you have decent upload speeds isn’t always possible.

Fortunately things are set to change with the consoles upcoming v1.70 update, with Sony Computer Entertainment confirming the inclusion of SHAREfactory, a new video editor app optimized to help make it easy to customize gameplay videos prior to uploading them. While core functions such as snipping sections out the video are obviously going to be included, other new features include special effects, transitions, themes, video commentary with picture-in-picture compatibility with the PlayStation Camera and more.

While they really need more direct support for Youtube, the completed videos can be instantly shared via Facebook or exported to an external USB storage device to be shared anywhere. Other new enhancements include being able to change the default recording time and being able to switch off HDCP to capture video directly from your HDMI output.

More features are set to be announced prior to Software Update v1.70 going live.
