Got a fair chunk of internet bandwidth remaining and own a PlayStation 4? Square Enix has today confirmed that the second phase of their Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn beta test for the PS4 has now gone live and will run until 1AM PDT on April 7th, 2014.

Phase 2 of the Beta uses the live game servers so players can join other PC and PlayStation 3 players, in addition to using existing characters in the Beta. New characters and player progress created during this phase can be transferred at the start of the official service that begins with the release on April 14th, 2014.

In addition, anybody that pre-orders the game can take advantage of Early Access that begins on April 11th, 2014… if you could consider it early access considering the game servers are technically still live.

Below is a simple guide on how to participate:

  • On your PlayStation 4 system, proceed to the PlayStation Store and download FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn (Beta Version). Once the download is complete, the installation will begin automatically.
  • Start FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn (Beta Version) from the home screen.
  • Log in using (or create for free) a Square Enix account and follow the on-screen instructions to start the game.
