Square Enix have just sent around the official notice confirming that Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is now officially available for all to enjoy on the PlayStation 4, following the 2013 relaunch of the MMORPG on both PlayStation 3 and PC platforms.
Allowing connectivity with the same servers shared by other editions of the game, this PlayStation 4 release comes with a small collection of additional features including PlayStation Vita remote play support, improved visuals and support with the PlayStation 4 share feature which makes it much more effective to share in-game footage than it was on the PS3. The most notable feature addition in my mind however is mouse and keyboard support, removing some of the limitations faced by playing only with a controller.
Players who own the PlayStation 3 system version of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will be eligible for a complimentary upgrade to a digital download copy of the PlayStation 4 edition. This will however render the PS3 edition useless, with playing on both consoles requiring separate purchases. More information on the upgrade process can be found HERE.
