Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Continues to Grow With Over 2 Million Registered Accounts

When it was first released for the PC in 2010, Final Fantasy XIV stood a very real possibility of being unsuccessful with an average to mediocre reception from media and the community. Square Enix could have at that point cut their losses and had “XIV” be something of a “lost instalment” in the long-running Final Fantasy series.

Instead they decided to completely take down the games servers and over an extended period of time, re-developed the game from the ground up. After re-launching in August last year on both the PlayStation 3 and PC as well as last week on the PlayStation 4… it seems like Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn continues to grow stronger.

In another milestone for the online game, Square Enix have recently confirmed that Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has surpassed the two million registered accounts mark globally. Kudos must go to the development team for taking a risk in re-developing, and having it pay off! Let’s just hope they continue their commitment to the game for years to come.
