[E3 2014] Nintendo Announce Their E3 2014 Plans

-

The annual E3 press conferences have for many years now become an integral component of the E3 experience for many hundreds of thousands if not millions of gamers around the world. In just a couple of hours, console manufactures and game developers / publishers alike have the opportunities to flaunt their upcoming titles for the year to the sizable market and potentially winning many loyal fans from an interesting upcoming release or a new feature in a pre-existing franchise.

Sony Computer Entertainment, Microsoft and several other publishers still stand behind this style of conference, however Nintendo last year decided to skip the conference and do a lot more things on the show floor and via online channels. Turns out they have decided to do it again this year. Instead, they shall be hosting a Nintendo Direct conference at 2AM AEST (Because Aussies never sleep apparently) on June 11th, 2014.

They have also announced two other online events, with additional details on them available below:

Super Smash Bros. Invitational

To commemorate the release of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U later this year, Nintendo will be inviting 16 highly skilled Super Smash Bros. players to the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles to compete in a Super Smash Bros. for Wii U tournament. While only sixteen pre-selected people will apparently be able to take part, everyone whether in person or online is invited to watch the event. More information about the 16 invited participants in the tournament, the identity of the announcers, and how fans of the franchise can view the tournament in person and via webcast, will be communicated shortly.

Alternatively people can pick up the game a few months later and enjoy it for themselves.

Nintendo Treehouse: Live @ E3

Whether it is because they cannot make it to the event or (in my case) are bombarded with academic commitments around the same time as E3 2014, the fans of video games do every year run the risk of missing out on opportunities that those fortunate enough to be in attendance get. The difference between companies is how they handle their online presence to make up for this – and with Nintendo they will be getting those at home involved via the Nintendo Treehouse: Live @ E3 program.

Live streamed during all hours of E3 2014, the product development department from Nintendo of America will provide in-depth game demos live and unscripted during the event, assumingly also fielding questions.
