While Nippon Ichi Software have yet to update the games official website to reflect this announcement, this weeks issue of Dengeki PlayStation purportedly lists the Japanese developer’s next title as Hotaru no Nikki, which could be localized into Firefly’s Diary.
From the small titbits of information that have so far been covered, Hotaru no Nikki is set to be considerably different from any past game by the company. The game will have you take control of a firefly to lead a young girl named Mion through her surroundings. Subsequently there is also a shadow firefly which you can use to move within objects. Described as a sort of experience-oriented game, there are many opportunities for Mion to be killed, requiring you as the player to remember and learn from your mistakes.
Hotaru no Nikki is set for release on the PlayStation Vita later this year within Japan. No international release plans have been confirmed by their international publishing division NIS America.
