As is the case with many major releases in Omega Force’s Dynasty Warriors franchise, the storyline is to a degree expanded by the introduction of one or more brand new characters, who are integrated into the Three Kingdoms lore / setting that the series has built for itself since 1997.
While not a major numbered instalment in the franchise, instead being an expansion to Dynasty Warriors 8 that launched during mid-2013 in North America and PAL regions, Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends is set to feature not one but a grand total of five new characters. In their second major set of screenshots released for the game, Tecmo Koei have shared character artwork and in-game screenshots for each of the characters which are available to view below.
A small set of screenshots in the same batch also showcase the share button support featured in the PlayStation 4 edition of Xtreme Legends titled Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition. This special edition containing both DW8 and DW8 Xtreme is set aside for the PS Vita and PS4 which never received a release of the original at launch.
New Character Profiles
Lu Lingqi – A brave warrior princess, and daughter of Lu Bu, who possesses great fighting ability much like her father, and uses her courage to stand in the front lines of any battle.
Zhu Ran – A young warrior who was promoted within the Wu ranks. Although young, he distinguished himself in the suppression of a group of mountain bandits and during the Battle of Ruxukou.
Yu Jin – An invincible general promoted by Wei leader Cao Cao. He places a strong emphasis on military discipline, and his unyielding personality causes him to be feared by friend and foe alike.
Fa Zheng – A strategist without morals and a key figure in Liu Bei’s efforts to take the land of Shu. He is a brilliant tactician and pacified Yi Province with his strategies, as well as participated in the invasion of Hanzhong. He strongly believes in repaying his debts, whether it be for good or ill.
Chen Gong – An ambitious and humorous strategist for Lu Bu, he is willing to make any sacrifice to see himself rise to the top. He once served under Cao Cao, but switch sides when he realised his ambitions would not be satisfied.
