Whenever one wanted to mentally think of a praise for an enjoyable experience or rant that their PlayStation 3 had ended up with a YLOD, one could always direct those thoughts and sentiments towards Jack Tretton since the days of the PlayStation 1. After the launch of four home video game consoles and two portable consoles however, Sony Computer Entertainment America have today announced that Tretton will be stepping down from his role as President and CEO of the company as of March 31st, 2014.
This is the claimed result of a mutual agreement between both parties, with Shawn Layden (Currently Executive Vice President and COO of Sony Network Entertainment International) to take of the role as President and CEO of SCEA effective April 1st.
Jack Tretton had the following to say with this announcement:
Working at SCEA for the past 19 years has been the most rewarding experience of my career. Although I will deeply miss the talented team at SCEA and the passion demonstrated every day by our fans, I’m very excited about starting the next chapter of my career. I want to thank the employees, partners and customers for their tireless commitment to the PlayStation brand and, of course, to our fans who have pushed us to new heights of innovation and entertainment over the past two decades. I leave PlayStation in a position of considerable strength and the future will only get brighter for PlayStation Nation.
Shawn Layden also had the following to say about this announcement:
