Ubisoft Australia have today announced that their UbiArt Engine platformer Rayman Legends, developed by their Montpellier studio, is now available within Australia and New Zealand from today for the now current generation PlayStation 4 and Xbox One video game consoles.

Rayman Legends originally launched on a number of consoles during late-2013 including the PlayStation 3, Xbox360, and the Wii U. In its review on The Otaku’s Study, Rayman Legends walked walked away a stellar score of “A” and seems to have been relatively well received from the gaming community and other media outlets alike.

Each platform will have a set of exclusive playable characters to unlock in the Heroes Gallery. On the Xbox One, there are two characters designed after the infamous villain from Far Cry 3, Ray Vaas and Far Glob, as well as Splinter Ray, inspired by Sam Fisher. PlayStation 4 players on the other hand will have access to Assassin Ray, inspired by the hero Edward Kenway from Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag. Both platforms will also include a new VIP status and hero, Champion Ray, which will be granted to the most active and highest-ranked players in the Online Challenges, as well as to players who are actively involved in the Rayman Legends community.

Aside from the additional playable characters, both consoles will also have their own distinct gimmicks from the rest of the releases. In the Xbox One edition, players will have access to ten exclusive challenges to unlock new achievements. These challenges require you to perform specific actions during a limited amount of time and are associated with various aspects of the game, such as player skills, co-op play, Kung Foot, and more.

Alternatively, the PlayStation 4 edition will make use of the DualShock 4 touchpad for actions such as scratching Lucky Tickets. But much more impressively. has a new Camera Mode which allows you to freeze the game and zoom in and out of the picture. This gives players the option to focus on any piece of hand drawn artwork and animated nuisances created during the games development.

While it may not be worth the extra money if you already own a copy of Rayman Legends on another console, if you are in the market of purchasing the game then either of these editions may be your best option.
