While DLC exclusivity deals are commonplace in the console industry now with Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo showing off what makes them the console to go to with the multitude of multiplatform releases that hit the market each yet. This is an aspect that we will most likely be seeing more of as more publishers discover the benefits of multiplatform releases, however the one exception that doesn’t sit too well with me is when season passes come into the equation.

Personally if I were holding a season pass to a major game such as Call of Duty: Ghosts…. I would be pretty ticked off if I were forced to wait potentially several months to get content that I paid exactly the same money for than someone who owned the game on another console.

Activision and developer Infinity Ward have today announced the launch of their first of four major downloadable content packs for Call of Duty: Ghosts, Onslaught. This pack launched exclusively today on Xbox Live consoles including the Xbox One and Xbox360 with NO current release date confirmed for other platforms including the PS3 / PS4 and PC. This pack includes four “smaller to medium sized” multiplayer maps, the all-new “Maverick” dual-purpose Assault Rifle/Sniper Rifle, and “Episode 1: Nightfall,” the first installment in Call of Duty: Ghosts Extinction’s four-part episodic story that follows humankind’s first contact with the Cryptids.

Onslaught delivers a ton of exciting, new content for Call of Duty: Ghosts fans to enjoy on next gen and current gen alike. It begins with a diverse set of maps that personify that classic Call of Duty-style of fast, frantic and exhilarating action. It doesn’t stop there, because Infinity Ward and Neversoft have taken it to another level; whether it’s becoming Michael Myers from Halloween as you pursue your opponents, to creating the first dual-purpose weapon in Call of Duty history, or crafting a new chapter in Extinction that introduces new characters and even a three-story tall Cryptid alien boss, Onslaught has something for all Call of Duty players, and we’re excited fans can finally get their hands on it.
