While Pokemon may not be the game you turn to if you are after an epic soundtrack for a game, I must admit the earlier tracks spark a strong sense of nostalgia – and the 8-bit music from the original Gameboy release of Pokemon Red / Blue / Yellow really helped get me motivated for the battle ahead.

While they may have no plans to release the classics at this time, The Pokemon Company International have confirmed their release of Pokémon X & Pokémon Y: Super Music Collection on the iTunes store. Featuring over 200 tracks and 3.5 hours of music from the latest installment in the series, you can pick them all up for just $9.99. As an added bonus, the album will feature a battle game music track from the four-part Pokemon Origins anime adventure, set to air on the 15th November 2013 internationally following a recent Japanese airing. The album also features five bonus tracks from Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue from the original composer, GAME FREAK’s Shota Kageyama.

The company has also confirmed that they will be releasing a soundtrack for every game released from the third generation (Ruby and Sapphire) of Pokemon games during 2014. The list includes:

  •  Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen
  • Pokémon HeartGold and Pokémon SoulSilver
  • Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire
  • Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl
  • Pokémon Black and Pokémon White
  • Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2
