While Nintendo most likely will never receive the reception that they did for Super Mario 64 when it comes to a non side-scrolling platform Mario game, they have continued to deliver some rather enjoyable installments on each of the major home video game consoles. While with the Gamecube they chose to implement F.L.U.D.D. mechanics and on the Wii they took Mario into outer space, it seems like Nintendo have chosen to stick with classic Super Mario gameplay mechanics for the Wii U, as they did with their recent 3DS release.
In their recent trailer for the game shown during this mornings Nintendo Direct conference, the developer / publisher highlighted ten new features in the game – ranging from being able to interact with the game world via the touchscreen and microphone, all the way up to being able to play as Rosalina from Super Mario Galaxy.
