Microsoft Sells One Million Xbox One Consoles in 24 Hours

Xbox One Launch_First Consoles

While some may have considered the Xbox One the underdog in the fight between the Xbox and Playstation in the next-generation console wars, Microsoft have boasted a strong reception to the launch with over a million consoles sold in the first 24 hours of it launching in 13 target countries on the 22nd November 2013.

While this may not be as impressive as Sony racking up a similar reception in only one (North America) market, it is still good to see that people are going with both – as while multiplatform titles are becoming more prevalent, both consoles are sure to have exclusives that one wouldn’t want to miss simply based on loyalty to one brand. These sale figures surpass their original Day One sales goal for the Xbox360, and sets a record for the company.

Want to know some stats on the games people are playing:

  • Over 60 million zombies have been killed in “Dead Rising 3”
  • Over 3.6 million miles driven in “Forza Motorsport 5″
  • Over 7.1 million combos in “Killer Instinct”
  • Over 8.5 million enemies defeated in “Ryse: Son of Rome”
  • 43.3 million Fit Points earned in Xbox Fitness

Yusuf Mehdi, Corporate Vice President of Marketing and Strategy at Microsoft’s Xbox Division has said “We are humbled and grateful for the excitement of Xbox fans around the world. Seeing thousands of excited fans lined up to get their Xbox One and their love for gaming was truly a special moment for everyone on the Xbox team. We are working hard to create more Xbox One consoles and look forward to fulfilling holiday gift wishes this season.”

There are now 22 Xbox One games that comprise of their launch titles, 10 of which are exclusive to the Xbox One.
