It Might Still Be Impossible to “Catch ‘Em All”, But The Pokemon Company International Promote New Music Video by Pogo Highlighting the “Gotta Catch ‘Em All” Phrase

-

I was fortunate to have grown up when Pokemon first became the “in” thing, where a greater majority of students in a classroom you could to some degree expect would have a copy of the game – either following the crowd or actively being involved in the game (That was my opinion from more than a decade ago now at least). One of the phrases that carried through in the first two generations of Pokemon games was the “Gotta Catch ‘Em All” phrase, where players could reasonably expect to catch at least 249 / 251 Pokemon by trading across the six games (Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Crystal).

When Ruby and Sapphire came out and the number of Pokemon kept increasing…. they dropped this phrase and in some cases focused more on the “seeing” than the “catching”. But that phrase has not been forgotten, with The Pokemon Company International today celebrating the 12th October launch of Pokemon X and Y with a brand new Pokemon music video “Catchatronic“. Making heavy use of the popular phrase, the song was produced by electronic artist Pogo and takes the essence of “Gotta Catch ’Em All” and mashes it up with Pokémon anime animation.
