CCP Games Welcomes New Talent For EVE: Valkyrie

-

It was announced in the latter half of last month that independent developer CCP Games would be turning their side-project EVE-VR into a full blown virtual reality project under the new title EVE: Valkyrie. Unlike EVE Online which is a mature online game that is best described by diving into it yourself, EVE: Valkyrie is set to be a multiplayer spaceship dogfighting shooter set in the EVE universe.

The company have just confirmed that Owen O’Brien will serve as the titles executive producer at their Newcastle, UK studio. As executive producer O’Brien will oversee all aspects of EVE: Valkyrie’s production. O’Brien joins CCP following a long career at the award-winning game development studio DICE in Stockholm, Sweden, owned by publisher Electronic Arts. At DICE, O’Brien led production of the game Mirror’s Edge.

The opportunity to work with a focused, talented and passionate team at the forefront of game-changing technology is a dream scenario for me. But it’s not just about the technology. This was a project born out of a genuine passion for gaming, and that shows in what the team has already achieved.

Sean Decker | Senior Vice President of Production at CCP Games

I worked with Owen for many years at DICE. His experience bringing Mirror’s Edge to market will be invaluable as we work to make virtual reality an actual reality for gamers worldwide.
