The Pokémon Company International have confirmed that they are expecting potentially thousands of fans of the Pokémon Trading Card Game and video game series from around the United States to attend the 2013 Pokémon U.S. National Championships in Indianapolis. The event is set to be held over three days, between the 5th July 2013 and 7th July 2013.
Gamers from around the country who have worked their backsides off building an unbeatable Pokemon Trading Card Game deck or alternatively spent endless hours producing an all-powerful Pokémon team in the Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2 video games have the opportunity to showcase their skills and make themselves know to fellow Pokémon Masters not only in the US but potentially on the world stage. Thats right, they will be vying for top placement in the Pokémon U.S. National Championships – and this comes with some great perks.
One video game competitor and one TCG competitor from each of three age divisions (Junior, Senior and Masters) will be crowned U.S. National Champion, and will travel with other top players to represent the United States on a global stage at the Pokémon World Championships this August in Vancouver, Canada.
J.C. Smith, Director of Consumer Marketing for The Pokémon Company International
The Pokémon U.S. National Championships is one of the largest and most prestigious Pokémon TCG and video game events in the world, and it provides a great opportunity for fans and players throughout the United States to come together and have fun playing the games they love. The event has continued to grow over the last few years and is a great opportunity for attendees to form new friendships and reunite with old friends, and perhaps win a trip to Vancouver for Worlds.
Of course, even if you don’t take part in the main event or are successful in doing so, there are still some reasons to attend. Not only do you get the chance to check out the skills of other players but if you bring in your Nintendo DS / 3DS system and a copy of Black/White (1/2) there will be a special character distribution event. You will receive a powerful Metagross based on the one used by World Champion Ray Rizzo in the 2012 Pokémon World Championships. Attendees can also take part in Pokémon League events, where they can earn special prizes.
The 2013 Pokémon TCG U.S. National Championships will begin on the 5th July 2013 at 9PM while the Pokémon Video Game U.S. National Championships will begin on the 6th July 2013 at 9am. Both events will take place at the Indiana Convention Center, located at 100 South Capitol Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46225, and will conclude on the 7th July.
