Sonic Adventure 2 To Be Released on XBLA and PSN

-

As you can see from this fan-footage taken from the Sonic Boom 2012 event in Los Angeles, and the subsequent cheering from the crowd…. Sega have announced that Sonic Adventure 2 will be heading to the Playstation 3 (Through the Playstation Network) and XBox360 (Through XBox Live Arcade).

While its predecessor Sonic Adventure originally saw release on the Dreamcast and has since seen subsequent releases on the Gamecube, PC, PSN and XBLA… Sonic Adventure 2 has been a bit left out having only seen a release on the Nintendo Gamecube after its 2001 Dreamcast release.

Original Opening for the Game

Similar to Sonic Adventure, you are not given control of just Sonic, but six main characters who are split into two separate arcs – the “Good Guys” featuring Sonic, Tails and Knuckles – and the “Bad Guys” featuring Dr. Eggman and new characters (Upon original release) Shadow and Rogue.

This was my first introduction to the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, and in my opinion is easily the best 3D Sonic game that Sega have released. The game features stages unique to each individual character (Although only a limited number for each), some catchy music, a refined Chao Garden system and multiplayer modes for each individual characters play-style (Sonic/Shadow – Speed, Tails/Eggman – Machinery, Knuckles/Rogue – Emerald hunting) with some reappearances of characters from other games in the franchise.

Currently no officially set date has been made for release other than Fall 2012.
