XSEED Games to Release The Last Story in North America 1

While I hope this does not come across as bragging, when I was walking through my local EB Games store today, one of the more recent additions to the shelves was The Last Story, one of Mistwalker and AQ Interactives latest titles that was published by Nintendo in PAL regions. However, until now there was no acquisition announcement for the game in the North American region… not any more however!

XSEED Games, a North American independent-minded publisher today announced a partnership with Nintendo that will bring The Last Story to the US exclusively on the Wii. This agreement with Nintendo grands XSEED Games the exclusive publishing rights to The Last Story when the game ships this Summer gaming season. The game itself is an action RPG developed by Hironoby Sakaguchi. It allows players to take charge of a band of mercenaries and journeying with them into a sprawling cinematic adventure.

Hironobu Sakaguchi, CEO of Mistwalker had this to say on the announcement:

I am very happy to be able to confirm that The Last Story will be released in North America. XSEED Games has a reputation for bringing high-quality JRPGs to America, and I’m sure they will do a great job with this release too.

On the other side of things, Jun Iwasaki – President of XSEED Games shared this comment:

I am excited to have the opportunity to work on such a unique and ground-breaking RPG. I’m sure that North American gamers will love this title.

I have included a brief synopsis of the game below for those who are not familiar with it:

The Last Story follows Zael and his band of fellow adventurers as they go to Lazulis Island, the only region prospering as the mainland of the Empire slowly rots away, in search of work and a better future. After securing employment with the ruler of the island, Count Arganan, Zael dreams of finally achieving a secure life as a knight and putting his unstable mercenary past behind him, but things don’t exactly go to plan when events during their first mission change his life forever…
