Namco Bandai Games are sure going for a number of crossover titles in the early months of this year. We have Tales of the Heroes: Twin Brave which brings two characters from relatively every Tales game ever made and pits them in a Dynasty Warrior battleground. They also have Heroes Phantasia which is due for release on the Playstation Portable in Japan from the 19th January which includes many cross-overs from anime series including Read or Die, Sgt. Frog, My-Hime, Blood+, Orphen, Rune Soldier, s-CRY-ed, Darker than Black and Slayers.
You may be wondering what each of these series may have in common to warrant a crossover game? Well it turns out there is turmoil all over the world with many unusual, perhaps supernatural events taking place including the US Library of Congress being attacked by its own historical figures and chiropterans causing a number of vampire-related attacks on the populace…. aka: antagonists from these anime series seem to be attacking modern society. Therefore, in order to protect the peace of the world – groups such as the Special Operations Division of the British Library and HiME rise up and work together in order to counter these threats. To allow for series that do not take place in this world to crossover, dimensional walls around a parallel world which belongs to other characters break, taking the game across both worlds – each with respective turmoil.
The above nine minute trailer covers the primary gameplay systems included in the game, and looks pretty promising. Will have to consider picking it up upon its release and do a review of it.
