Everything You Need to Know About Australia's Playstation Vita Launch 1

Let’s be perfectly honest, the Playstation Portable for me was a great console with many games, however it didn’t seem to capture the Australian market as the other consoles have. However, we now have the Playstation Vita to look forward to – and unlike the PSP launch it seems that Sony are going all out, having over 80 games from various development studios all over the world working on titles and a rather generous starting price.

Earlier on today the European and North American release dates and prices were announced. Around half an hour ago, Sony sent through the specifics every Australian will need to know about getting their hands on this console as soon as possible. Australia will be joining Europe in receiving the game on the 22nd February 2012. As well, we will be recieving both the Wi-fi and 3G models of the console, with the normal Wi-fi edition setting you back  $349.95 (RRP) and for those of you who want the 3G version, it will cost you AUD $449.95 (RRP) (For those in New Zealand, the RRP’s are $449.95 and $549.95 respectively).

Michael Ephraim, Managing Director of Sony Computer Entertainment Australia and New Zealand had this to say about the announcement:

PlayStation Vita is a revolutionary device, which will offer the best possible portable gaming experiences available on the market. Its impressive feature set is designed to provide the ultimate gaming experiences on the go. This, combined with social connectivity means there will be not only innovative new ways to play, but also new ways to connect with others. We are incredibly excited about the upcoming launch of PlayStation Vita.

Featuring many improvements upon the original PSP such as an OLED Front Touch Screen, Rear Touch Pad (Which was shown off in a LittleBigPlanet demo at the EB Games Expo), dual cameras, motion sensors and more, many titles already slated for release on it including Wipeout 2048, LittleBigPlanet, Call of Duty, Uncharted Golden Abyss and even more means of socialising using their new applications such as Near and Party (Not Mainichi Issho outside of Japan still), even if you were hesitant about the PSP, this might just be the portable console for you!
